A full refurbishment including a ground floor rear
extension, loft conversion and basement excavation in a Victorian terrace house
in Clapham. The focus was to create a contemporary design but retain many of
the original features including cornicing, fireplaces, ceiling roses. It
was also key to our client that we improve the amount of light into the
property, to convert it from a slightly dark property to a light, bright and
airy home. This was achieved by opening up the spaces and using glass both externally
and internally to allow light to travel through the house.
The new basement provided a family room/cinema, guest bedroom with en suite, utility room, plant/store room and a loo. The ground floor was opened up and extended to allow for a large open plan kitchen/dining area with a front living room. Upstairs the front bedroom was extended into the rear bedroom to provide a substantial master bedroom suite and the loft space was converted allowing for another bedroom with en suite.
